If you ever find yourself in the West Coast - vicinity, do yourself a favour and travel to Paternoster, a small fishing village about 1,5 hours drive North of Cape Town, on the West Coast Road.

There you will find a little jewel of a pub aptly named "The Panty Bar", carefully hidden within the confines of the ever popular Paternoster Hotel. The Panty Bar will appeal to any avid bar - lover, as the entire ceiling is clad in hundreds of used panties, old and new, large and small.

This place has loads of character, the interior a feast for the eyes as your gaze smoothly shifts from one wall to the other, your mind at awe at the obviously spectacular times that many people have shared here. The drinks prices are fair, the Jagermeister is ice cold, the locals are friendly (yet a tad eccentric) and the food is typical value - for - money pub fare, which is befitting of this little haven. The winelist is decent too, offering a fair selection of local wines from the Riebeeck Kasteel -  and Darling regions.

On our visit there, we tried to convince the accompanying ladies to surrender a few pieces of underwear so that we, too, could leave our mark on the ceiling of this famous little pub. They quietly declined, as they felt that underwear was way too expensive these days, and that LaSenza dangling from the ceiling would go to waste.

Oh well, at least we tried.

For a proper West Coast Paternoster Experience, be sure to visit The Panty Bar during the Paternoster Crayfish Festival.

This is definitely a venue worth the trip.
