I recently visited the Fashion TV Bar in Cape Town - this was my first and LAST time.

I must say that this 'review' of FTV CAPE TOWN is more of a rant than a review; let me explain...

I had been having a great evening indulging in some good whiskey on a yacht docked right in front of the Victoria and Alfred Hotel at Cape Town's waterfront. From the start this was set to be a night to remember; FTV Bar however made me remember it for the wrong reason! Friends suggested that we head over to Cape Towns' FTV Bar, as I had not been to FTV before, I obliged.

I did not have any cash on me; I only had my cheque card - my preferred method of payment. I gave the barman my card and he quite willingly set up a tab for me. After about an hour my friends rather unexpectedly told me that they wanted to leave FTV and move on the next bar or return to the yacht. I told the barman that I needed to pay up as I'd be on my way. He then told me that there was a R100 minimum amount that FTV accepted for card payments and that I had only spent R35. After spending a few minutes of trying to get my hands on some cash I told FTV's barman that I had NO cash and would have to pay with my card. We commented that he could swipe it for R100, expecting to get the difference in cash. So he swiped my card for R100 and gave me the slip - Nothing else.

After waiting a few minutes I realised that he had no intention of giving me the R65 difference - was he just going to pocket it for himself? Or if this R65 goes down as income for Fashion TV; how do they account for it? I called him over and he said, R100 is there minimum and that he couldn't give me the R65 (I had only spent R35).

At this point my blood was boiling; I told him that I wanted to speak to the manager. A young lady came over - after giving her a piece of my mind I eventually got my money back. As I am passionate about customer service, I was trying to tell her about the value of treating your customers well - she walked off while I was talking to her...

FTV BAR, CAPE TOWN = FAIL
